Why upgrade your nbn® access technology?
Fibre Connect is an initiative run by the nbn™ and designed to provide customers with faster internet to support the growth in connected devices and the increase in the number of Australians working from home.
Eligible homes with an nbn™ Fibre to the Node (FTTN) or Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) connection will have the opportunity to connect to nbn™ Fibre to the Premises (FTTP).
How do I become eligible?
nbn® technicians are now upgrading suburbs across Australia. Over the next two years, approximately 2 million addresses will be eligible to be upgraded from Fibre to the Node (FTTN) or Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) to Fibre to the Premise (FTTP).
When that occurs you’ll become eligible in the following ways:
nbn® fibre is installed in the street of your premises;
You will need to increase your existing plan to meet the following minimum speeds:
FTTN (fibre to the node) customers will need to increase their service speed to a minimum 100 mbps download speed plan;
FTTC (fibre to the curb) customers will need to increase their service speed to a minimum 250 mbps download speed plan;
Maintain the service on the higher plan for a minimum 12 month period.
*Minimum term of 12 months to avoid a $200 installation fee from nbn®. To avoid the fee a FTTP upgraded service must continue operation (not cease) or be downgraded to below the applicable minimum speed during the 12 month period from activation.
What are the benefits of FTTP?
Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) is the optimal nbn® connection for ensuring your premises are future-proof. Its key advantages lie in superior speed and scalability, making it ideal for both immediate use and long-term growth.
With FTTP, users experience swift and reliable signal transmission, enabling seamless uploads, downloads, and high-quality streaming media.
Will my existing equipment be compatible?
Most nbn® compatible routers are compatible with an FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) service. However, you might need to adjust your equipment settings before fully utilising the service. Ensure that your modem/router supports a WAN (Wide Area Network) connection, as our connection type is PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet). If you have any concerns, feel free to reach out to our support team for assistance.
